I find it's always a problem, even on the M37s, which have a proper hood. We have a terrible lot of condensation here throughout most of the winter. Cast iron, especially, gets wet and stays wet for weeks, just condensing more and more water as it gets cold at night and humid during the day. I suppose it runs down into the spark plug holes and accumulates. I've resorted to painting the holes and the plugs, and/or squirting a big squirt of oil into each hole. Both are ugly, but better than dealing with rusted-in-place plugs. Even the paint and oil don't seem to totally prevent the rust when water accumulates in the holes.
