The trade off is the ride. 1/2 tons are the stiffest riding of them all. We had a 1/2 ton WC with mostly wooden flatbed. It had a 265 and factory dual carb, dual exhaust (came out of a big truck). It had 900-16 tires on it also. No big power house even with the dual carbs and dual exhaust. Again, not worth the effort or expense IMHO if you are looking for a dramatic increase in power.
