Todd, I'm sure you have seen lots of powder coating...start with your new Dodge...almost the whole chassis is powder coated including the rear end. Virtually all motorcycles are powder coated...when's the last time you saw a new Harley peeling or chipped?
You're talking about guys that have had parts coated at a lawn furniture/mass cheapo widget coating facility.
There's tons of good info on the Web regarding proper auto powder coat but very little useful info about it on this sight.
Don't get me wrong....epoxy primers & coatings are great. They are better than Powder Coat on body parts & areas that require boarding & filling but it's not as good as powder coating on chassis parts. Still excellent....not as good.
And that's coming from someone that sprays epoxy almost every day.
Would I use epoxy on a frame? Absolutely.
Would I powder coat a frame? If I wanted the best job & had the time. Spraying epoxy for me is free.
