They can be stubborn. Use the right size drift and they will come out. If the drift is too long, it will flex instead of driving out the pin. The business end of the drift should be almost the diameter of the pin you are driving out.
Loosen the bolts just a little to take some of the tension off. But, if you loosen them too much, the knuckle joint will move absorbing some of the impact.
Step 2: Get a bigger hammer.
