Back in 2006 I looked at Kubota and John Deere, and ended up with the Deere, as price was very close, and the JD had better foot ergonomics for the Hydro-stat. I've got a JD 2020, 23 HP Compact, with a 62" mower and front end loader.
23 HP might be a little smaller than you are looking for, but make sure you try/drive each to see how the controls work.
The Deere is good, perhaps not what they used to be. I wish I'd looked at the Case/IH's back then, and today I'd also look at the Mahindra.
