I was probably 6th or 7th grade when I was driving a 1941 willy jeep with very little brakes and barely any clutch. Drive it round and round at the quarry where my dad was working.
My earliest recollection of driving something was my dad's D-8 Caterpillar. He was done for the day having a cold one and letting it idle. I climbed in the seat and sat there and he said move it. I was maybe in 3rd grade. I pulled as hard with all my body to pull the clutch lever back to engage it and sure enough, I got it back far enough to lock in and away I crawled. my dad threw his beer down and started chasing after me and yelling at me to push the lever back... he never thought I had the muscle to pull the lever back... And yet I remember that these many years later... :o)
