I just read the link about your Dad's friend. Too many similar stories from that era and I know that smell of death mentioned. I even used the very same term when several of us saw the destroyed tracks from the May 5,1968 battle of An Bao which was the most causalities 1/50th suffered in their time in VN. I was not involved in that particular battle although we were on alert. I did listen to it on the radio and some of it stays with me to this day. It was very bad for the first hour and I knew some of those involved.
