Thoughts:
It takes one year per inch thickness to air dry
(covered) the boards
As stated, try to use only clear lumber
Get the boards from the mill rough cut, bigger in
All dimensions than you need. Then, after drying
Plane and cut the boards to the desired dimension.
With my bed I got the mill to cut the boards 1/4 thicker,
1/2" wider and 6" longer than my finished size.
Use stainless fasteners if possible.
