I am not clear with your posting. Is the new bed wood off the truck or already installed?
What is the condition of the previous bed, can it be used as a pattern?
Are you replacing the angle strips and flat strips?
I used pine to ensure I had all the cuts and drilling points correct, then pulled that off and transferred that to my oak bed. It turned out very nice.
