Really not much. Too much and you will split the gasket.

I don't use silicone seal ion the gasket itself, it acts as a lube and lets the gasket squish out. But glops in the corners are necessary. I use yellow weather strip cement and glue the gasket to the pan. Less liekly to squish and split that way.

Go real light on the pan bolt torque, if seeps later, give them some more twist.
