I go hiking several times a week up the North Shore mountains & often I run into black bears. The first few times was rather daunting but I don't even stop walking anymore when I see them...just make sure they hear me. I've had them within 15' of me & they could care less. Of course if you scare them you're probably not going to fare well...or if they feel threatened but they can smell you coming from miles away.
They're beautiful animals. When I see one in the wild it's a fantastic sight. When I see a dead one it's sickening.
I'll make a deal...I won't harp on it anymore if folks will stop posting pics of their cowardly acts.
I'm absolutely not religious but I can tell you that I fully believe in Karma & what comes around, goes around. If you're ok with someone doing the same to you or your family then carry on.
