Dean, Ya that's how I used to do it... 2 handed. Gettin' 2 trannys in gear with no clutch is quite a trick! My first car at 13 was a CJ-2A Jeep and we got a warn OD for it. The Warn was cool because it was just forward and back with the shifter as high as the 3 speed and right next to it. I would go 1st D, 2nd D, 2nd OD (Warn forward), then grab both with one hand and down to 3rd D and then forward with the OD for top gear. Split shifting, would like to get a 3spd brownie or a 2 spd in a W300. A friend of Mom's had a Dodge Colt with the power and economy shifter, which was just an all speed OD. I was driving them around town split shifting and they are going... what are you doing?? It was 'my job' to keep Mom on her toes :°) G
