I've got one apart right now. The spring is a bit tired and rusty but here goes:
Outside diameter - 1.12"
Free length - 2.25"
Wire Dia - .11"
Material - Music wire (not stainless)
7 coils - Ends are ground flat
I don't have a force gauge so I can't tell you the spring rate.
It's a very loose fit inside the pintel hook, so anything close to this should work fine.
I took the above numbers and searched Century Spring. I think spring #72566 is very close and would work fine. Spring rate 43 lbs/in.
