Must of them are thing galvy steel. The zinx acts as a sacraficial anode, and goes bye-bye if no protection in the coolant. Then the steel rusts away, tuning into the gunk inside the water jacket.

The water distribution tube is there to apportion the water around ALL cylinders. If it's rusted away, all the water cools the fronts, none gets to the back.

While the front clip is off, pull the pump again, and get out your long wire, and feel for distinctive holes in the top. Find a pic, to map the holes- I think one between each cylinder?

Next one I need will be hand made from either copper or stainless. Brass ones are unobtainium anymore.
