The clutch sits between the spool and the gear housing witch is on the drivers side.
both the spool and the clutch sit on the same shaft that enters the gear housing.
I can send you the parts diagram from the 47 to 56 book and some photos if you wish.
I am not yet able to put it on the web site.
Some one posted the diagram several forums ago.
