Putting a turbo on a 3-53 and doing it the proper way is not just a bolt on situation - I have been through this. The true 3-53T uses different: cylinder kits(different compression), rods, camshaft, larger injectors, a rebuilt or modified blower (different shaft seals to live with the boost). Then all you need is the proper turbo, manifolds and associated piping. Incidentally I am still looking for the external pieces for the last engine (3-53T) that I have sitting around. If I didn't have all the money inside of it already I'd throw it away and go with a 4BT cummins. Much lighter and less complicated. If anybody out there has a turbo and the associtated pieces I'd like to here from them. Also I have a surplus 3 or 4-53 flywheel housing to go to the 60's gm 4 spd and I have a Jacobs brake set up for the 3-53 that I am not going to use (putting it in a dozer).
