During my 43 years as a mechanic, I probably rebuilt or repaired more Chevy engines then most of you have seen.I worked for three G.M. dealerships, Two Dodges and one Ford. I then had my own garage for about 12 years. When I found a piston skirt lying in the oil pan of a 283 or 327 engine, nobody had to tell me what it was or where it came from!! When I removed the camshaft from a Powerless engine, I didn`t have to mike the rounded lobes! Most of the cracked piston problems were, but not limited to, the 265 engine. The 265 engine did not have steel reinforcement on each side of the wrist pin. This steel was added LATER! When you make your living working on automobiles, You know their problems!---BEEN THERE--DONE THAT---OWNED SEVERAL!
