A couple of my m37's have been converted to 12 volt from their original 24. I assume since you have a key to start yours that yours may be converted as well. After the wiring has been altered there is no telling what the starting procedure is now. On one of mine the starter has a switch of it's own on the dash that needs to be turned on after the keyed switch and then turned off again after the engine starts. My best advice is to backtrack the wires coming from the starter to see if you have an independant starter switch. KH
