To further elaborate, and then hopefully get back to Dodges, ferd made no bodies or tubs after early 1944, but neither did Willys, with all bodies on either the Jeep or ferd frames, which were identical except for the front crossmember and a few prepunched frame holes, coming from American Central Manufacturing Co. ferd may have made a few Jeeps with tractor motors but after 1942 all engines were the same with only the ferd stamp or Willys stamp indicating the different factories. So many parts were changed by mechanics in the motor pools that a totally ferd or Willys Jeep would be quite rare as all parts were interchangeable after 1942. The only real way to tell the manufactures true identity is that ferd used an invered channel and Willys used a tube at the front cross member. That tube can still be found on todays TJ Wrangler, hidden behind the bumper.
