This technique works, just be sure to "ground" (black, negative) the item suspended in the soapy water, and don't let it physically touch any of the anodes (the Positive, red, waste scrap rods of steel or stainless that you attach to the sides of the bath. I used a 5 Gal bucket, have graduated to a plastic storage bin (the type WITHOUT holes in the bottom) and will buy a kiddie pool this Summer to do larger parts.
Note: Bigger bath = higher amperage. A five gallon bucket works with a 5-10 amp charger, but bigger would be a 20 amp charger.
Toss a cat in to see if it's safe. (sorry, just kidding, I don't MIND cats...)
