I just platigaged a crankshaft and found out some interesting facts about clearances. Go to the Clevite website after you get your clearance specs and compare to what they have. The OEM specs are a lot tighter than what Clevite and most machine shops recommend. I measured approx. 0.002 clearance which was over the Ford spec of .019. Clevite specs went up to .0032 as an allowable clerance. Don't rebuild if you don't have to. My machine shop said that .002 was the perfect oil clearance. A rule of thumb is .001 inch of clearance for every inch of journal circumference.
