I've got 36 inch Buckshots on my M-37,, I can fit between front tire and fender to inspect steering linkage..lots of room...

in addition to fuel gauge, float sticking??? I think ( not sure) that gauge should read empty with no voltage, full with full voltage 6 for 6 volt sys, 12 for 12, 24 for 24....I would think that gauge would stay on full if was converted from 6 to 12 until voltage to gauge was reduced below 6 volts, ie below half tank.., but i would not think it would stay on full all the time...

I think you could check sender by checking output voltage as the float level is moved...May be able to check gauge itself by varying voltage to unit,,, multiple flashlight batteries in series??? Note that these are things i might try on my truck,,can't think of anything this would dammage,, but then i'm not well versed in automotive electronics...
