I'm not really clear on what's going on there. Is it a situation where you could turn the parts on a lathe until they were weren't egged out, and then turn a bushing to take up the gap. It's pretty normal to make new bushings or oversized pins in all sorts of linkages for old construction machinery. But it sort of sounds like the wear is in a tapered spline (something I've never seen), in which case making a bushing isn't an option. There's nothing to lose by trying the JB weld, but if it's possible to assemble the parts in a way that you could pour babbit or zinc in to fill the gap, that might be a longer-lasting fix.
