I personally would install 4 new wheel cylinders on that truck, new shoes front & rear, a new master cylinder & all new lines front to back.
You're dealing with a 60 year old truck with a single master cylinder. One leak anywhere & you have no brakes & a relatively poor emergency brake for the weight of the vehicle.
Often we do this work thinking that it'll be fine..."I just drive it off road anyway"...then you see the truck for sale on EBay & some poor sucker has plans of driving it daily.
All that said, brake shoes in general, so long as they're bone dry & the wheel cylinders are bone dry...& the shoes are within spec then they don't need to be changed.
You know, we've had long debates on the forum here regarding seatbelts & other safety issues. many of them are overkill...some not. This is the biggest one there is on our trucks. Single brake systems need to be maintained properly to the highest standard. I think it's worth the extra couple hundred dollars to not take any short cuts in this area. One oversight could mean someone being seriously hurt or killed.
That's my $.02
