My trash truck needed a new engine . Actually it has needed a new engine for at least 5 years . So I picked up a 50 ,000 mile donor truck and went to swap motors .
(1) then i figured a 50,000 mile motor would need a timing chain
(2) then the cab in the donor truck looked better than the old cab
(3) but the floors are different - nothing a sawsall would not fix .
(4) but the wiring ended up different , which meant cutting , splicing and dicing .
(5) the steering was different which meant swapping part of the column
(6) Then I decided to add the extra fuel tank from the donor truck
(7) and later found out that the switches and connections for the fuel tanks had changed
(8) decided to use the old engine oil cooler - It blew a line on fire up and puked about two quarts of oil all over the clean engine bay - had to pull all sorts of stuff of to get at the connections .
(9) Hmmm maybe I will hook up this trans cooler while the front grill is off - none of the lines match - go to the store again and get some new lines
(10 ) why does the fuel gage go to zero on one tank and go to incredibly full on the other tank - a few hours of sorting and playing with the harness

Now that most of this is sorted out i still have a truck that is trash , But it sure idles nice , the rockers all line up , the steering wheel now lines up which it never did before , the horn works for the first time .

It is raining

Still need to get at the front bumper , check the lights , rap up some wiring and the master cylinder is now leaking .

We all go through stuff like this , I least i hope I am not the only one ...
