At the truch pull the power wagon bodied cummins 91 or 92 did a full pull and started to make the turn at the end of the track when they waved him down. The small block m37 beat all the stock powered trucks and my 4bt twisted off the drive shaft . Truck pulls are more a dyno test than pulling capacity.
Trailer towing I would look at axle size. New Dodge and Chevrolet diesels are 11.5 ring gear ford is 10.5 with 11.5 for duallys. Power wagons are 9-5/8". My m37 axle will burn you after 10-20 miles at 45 mph my newer diesel is barely warm after towing 10k for 100 miles at 70. I imagine a lot of on road towing would be hard on gear oil and in turn would ultimately be hard on the axle.
