1959 Fargo W300M Power Wagon Crew Cab $18,000 [UK]

1959 Dodge Fargo W300M Power Wagon Crew Cab,
"Factory" 7 seat, 3 door Crew Cab, genuine , complete, original. Starts, runs ,drives and stops.

Probably unique in USA , built in 1959 for EDF - the French power company, sold by EDF to a gentleman in Lyon,France in 1970 who added a crane and used the truck for breakdowns until 1982 when it was parked up in his workshop. Bought by me in January this year on his retirement, the crane was removed to fit in our truck. This is a nicely complete survivor, an easy project but it's a project too far for me, and it needs to go to fund completion of my 1940 WC1 pickup.

Engine : original 1959 230 L head with correct numbers, brand new old stock Solex carb. Starts and runs easy, shows 45 psi oil pressure at tickover. Compression test show 65,55,100,55,80,80 psi so would benefit from at least a new set of rings, odometer says 93,927km (58,700 miles) so it's about time for some TLC.

Gearbox : shifts in and out of all gears fine, front axle and low ratio engage smoothly , there is some whine on the overrun.
Winch engages and turns fine but engage handle pivot is missing (handle is present)
Brakes : has later type vacuum boost brakes which have been refilled and bled and work ok but I would go through them before using on highway.
Wheels/Tyres : original wheels in good condition fitted with a matching set of Michelin XY 9.00 16s with good tread . Spare wheel is present but rusted out.

Bodywork : all steel crew cab , originally Forest Green, overpainted orange for recovery work, has some surface rust in seams and the usual rear cab corners as well as a hole where the crane attached to the chassis. There is rot on the inside of the passenger A post, in the cab floors and trans hump , a couple of weekends work or so I guess and some replacement cab floor panels .The windscreen frame appears ok but is stuck down, may be rusted inside .There are a few holes in the roof where lights have been attached and all the usual dents and scratches of a 54 year old vehicle. One or two small patches of rust through in the usual places on the front fenders, easy fix.

Most lights/electrics kind of work but with a Gallic indifference, probably poor earth connections .Cowl lights rusted.

Bench seats for 7 are all present but scruffy. There is a useful gun / tool locker under the rear seat.

Frame is solid with only surface rust in most places, no patches , nicely oily at the front.Remnants of the huge crane mount welded to middle cross member.

Truck is UK registered in my name with copies of original French papers . Shipping by container to US East coast ports would cost about $3,000 , RORO about $2,000.

Asking $18,000 including delivery to local UK port (Liverpool) or other ports at minimal cost.
