Never underestimate the determination of 12 year old girls!
I was happily working in the shop today when my 12 year old daughter Claire comes in with 2 of her friends. We want to build an igloo they announced. We have maybe 3" of snow on the ground from last weeks "storm". Sounds good I tell them, have at it. They asked if I had any plastic tubs. Sure, I gave them 3 tubs and 3 shovels. About an hour later they were back saying they had the first row done, and would I help them. I couldnt miss this opportunity, so I went out. They had a ring of blocks about eight feet in diameter, inside. They were shoveling the scant snow into the tubs and packing it down. They just were not strong enough to lift them up onto the next course. I told them to keep filling the tubs and I would stack them. They kept up with me, as I set row after row, angling the tops in and shaping the blocks. after a few hours, I had it capped off. They were pretty tuckered out by then. We were going to build the little curved top tunnel in, but they finally fizzled. The plan was for them to sleep in it tonight but one of the Moms said no. Maybe Claire and I will sleep in it tomorrow night. When I came in, I realized how tired I was from that! Now where is that beer?
Tim
