Growing up I dont ever recall seeing a Power Wagon. In the 80s, I needed a plow truck, and driving down the road saw a cool old truck with a plow on it. It was a 41 WC12 (half ton) with a civilian cab and a 50s Ford bed. It ran and drove, but had had a mishap with the transfer case and was only 2 wheel drive. The transfer casw was literally cracked in half, and half of it and the front drive shaft were sitting on the front seat. The input and rear output were still intact so it drove, but you could see inside it and see the gears.
It came with a set of rear tire chains so I put them on and plowed all winter that way, in 2 wheel drive. In the spring I found a place in Keesville NY who sold me a rebuilt case. I really wanted a winch for it and they had one, $500 complete. I didnt have the $500 but started saving for it. Just when I got the money together, a local machine shop parked a 55 Power Wagon wrecker thy had out in front with a for sale sign on it, for $500, and naturally being a wrecker it had the winch! I bought it and drove it home. I moved the plow over onto it and started using it. The virus had taken hold! Five or more years later I was working on the Power Wagon out in the yard when some people rode in on bikes. They were the grown kids of friends of my Wifes parents who happend to be riding their bikes through Vermont, recognized the town name as where we lived. They asked at the General Store for directions and came on by. First thing the guy says is, I have a Power Wagon too! turned out he had bought it, the engine blew shortly after and he bought something else. I bought it sight unseen and it is the one shown above that I still have. Over the years I have bought probably 40 parts trucks and parted them out as a side business that supports my hobby of buying parts trucks and parting them out! It just goes round and round! I wont part out a truck that isnt ready, if they are reasonably fixable, I will sell them whole.
So, the original WC12? I sold it years ago to a guy I went to school with, he had plans to turn it into a mud rig or something. It sat for a bunch of years until Amos got caught misbehaving with a female not his wife and left town. His wife, needing money called me to see if I wanted to buy the truck back. I didnt want it, nor did I want to get on Amos's wrong side, but I bought it back. It sits at the end of the row of about 20 other parts rigs, waiting its turn.
Probably more of an answer than you wanted but I was bored!
Tim
