It's illegal in many, if not all states,to re-stamp VIN plates. Of course, he's in Poland. I'd rather have a beat up original than a re-stamped new plate anyway.

Hopefully, your truck is already licensed and registered. If not, don't show up for the VIN verification with the new VIN plate. It could be a red flag. I don't think most people will give you a problem, but who knows? It's technically possible for a law enforcement officer to have your truck impounded if it has a non-original VIN tag. There's a check box on the California inspection form for, "VIN plate appears to have been tampered with" or something like that.

Vehicles with missing or obliterated VIN tags are supposed to have a state issued VIN number tag.
