My son's TJ Jeep had the same thing happen; #6 piston broke at the wrist pin area and found piston skirt in oil pan.
Damaged cylinder, so had to junk engine.
We used it as a core and sent it in to Jasper for a replacement engine.
It's working out great for him; have had it back on road for a few years now.
Not sure if there is a problem with #6 cylinder lubrication, etc. Have you found out anything from research?
