So today I decided Id drop the transfer case and try to find out why the yokes from the intermediate shaft were rubbing the transfer case crossmember.

Once I removed the covers under the seat that allow access to the nuts that hold the transfer case mounts, I realized they were not totally lined up properly. I couldnt get a socket on the nuts from inside the cab, so I had to use a wrench from under, and go between the cab and crossmember.

Once I dropped the transfer case, with a jack and transmission adapter for the jack, I removed the mounts from the crossmember. I then cut a 1/4" plate to fit between the bolts and drilled holes to allow it to mount between the crossmember and the upper rubber bushing. Duplicated for the other side, and reinstalled the mounts.

Monday, im gonna check, theres supposedly a speedometer shop here in town, for a new cable to use until I get my original one repaired. So for now the transfer case is sitting on the jack in the garage. Dont wanna put it back in til I can install the cable, you know what a pain it is to get to when the case is in place.

On another note, I started the truck up today, and it fired up on the second turn over. Seems like the battery didnt die. Last time it ran was wednesday. Its been sitting since and it fired right up. Monday I will also see if I can drive it to the shop to have the generator tested. I dont ahve any stuff to do it

Good day I guess, Nice weather for workin on er

Nick
