are the points opening and closing? can you get someone to push the starter while you check for spark? if the points are set close to correct they will spark a little bit and you can see it with key on and cap and rotor off and engine spinning. if they are not sparking they are set wrong. everything starts with the points gap. if it aint right_ no spark
