WM 300 67 -68 brake pedal question

Can anyone tell me if the brake pedal can contact the steering column tube in their truck? I swapped in a pedal and bracket from a 68 into my 55. If the pedal is pushed to the floor it will not return all the way back because it hits the column tube. I am not using the original master cylinder .The truck has front disc brakes. It now has the larger bore master cylinder that Paul used in his conversions. I am wondering if the orginal master cylinder may have had a shorter lenght bore and that served as a internal stop to control the pedal stroke.
