I have carried 3-ton of river rock in the bed of my WDX. I have also carried railroad ties stacked to the middle of the cab rear window and full pallets of shingles. These loads left no evidence. On the other hand, I owned a truck that regularily carried damaged bulldozer tracks and a drag-line bucket. The pickup box on that truck wore some substantial scars from the effort, but it was still not destroyed.

However, I do find my flatbed to be the handiest to use.
