pondering old rims and new tires

Hello all,
I think this is a stupid question but i will ask anyway.
I have been thinking about what tire choices and looking at what is available from different places.
I want to stay as original as possible but that limits tire choices.
The real question that i have not wrapped my head around is:
Can i use new radial tires that are tubeless with the original 2 piece budd rim, which i think was designed to be used with bias ply tires and tubes?
I don't think you can use a tubeless tire with a tube in it can you?
