I'm getting ready to set the 318 in the 6x6 frame, so I measured the rear differential angles to get an idea what angle to set the transfer case and the engine. I'm finding that the rear axle sits 7.5 deg above horizontal, and the center axle and pillow block sits 2.5 deg above horizontal. The transfer case sits naturally (no shims) at 5 deg above horizontal. I checked the other 6x6 I have, and I'm getting similar numbers. Is this okay?

I'm inclined to set the engine at 5 deg to match the transfer case, but I don't understand why the rear axles are so different from each other. The torque rods keep the axles from rolling as they rise and fall, so the angles will not change. So why are they different?
