Our local Sheriff is a good guy. He knows that what most of us want is not much Sheriffing. If the local sheriff was the sole enforcer of all the state and federal as well as local laws, we'd be in good shape. Unfortunately the feds can come in and do what they want and the sheriff can't do anything about it. Hell, before the Forest Service and EPA were even an issue, the FBI came in and raided Cedar Street and even though all the local officials were in on it, it was the Sheriff (Frank Crnkovich) who took the fall for everybody.
