I have one 11R16 XL on my truck made in (03/47), this one is 66 years old. Another one on the truck was made in (04/58), that one is 55 years old. When you compare them to one made in 04, they look pretty much the same as far as aging. When mounting the older ones, they were slightly stiffer. I've hauled heavy loads with no sign of fatigue.
I'm not suggesting they last forever, nor that you can confidently be assured that you may not have a failure with an older tire, nor that you use older tires, I'm only giving you my experience.
