The yemen expedition Goeroge Farrier was on back in the 50's used a special sand tire. George once told me what they were...I have now forgot. I do think they were a Special Goodyear.
Go to Joe's pictures on the front page of the forum, go to album 24 Farrier and you will see them. Very wide tires. And they still got stuck bad at times in the desert sands.
