Here's my thought on it...
I prefer the survivor...which is a handful of really well preserved trucks that have character & patina but aren't dented, beat or any rust perforation. I've only seen a handfull of them in my years collecting & they are usually as expensive as a restored truck. Clint Dixon's trucks would be a couple of great examples. I would say 10 trucks out of 100 or less fall into that category & those trucks deserve to be preserved & stored indoor.
Unfortunately the ones that aren't will become one of the other 90 out of 100 within a few years & just another restoration candidate.
The thing is that they're only original once but if you restore them properly & keep the base/clear coatings off of them, they'll look just like a nice original again in another 50 years yet they won't be rotting into the ground like too many end up.
We all have good intentions but you just won't win when it comes to climate deterioration & so the most important thing for me is to be sure the truck condition is not deteriorating & it's protected.
That's my take anyway.
Any of the ones I've restored have either been smashed to smithereens or defiled by the fire departments :)
