Lew died just down the road, his recreation of the first ute got smacked by a large truck if I recall. Still a lot of arguments here as to whether this was really the first ute - think maybe it should read the first factory produced ute, or similar. There were plenty of conversions before '34 and other makers were getting ute bodies fitted to the imported running gear. Back then most manufacturers used a body firm to build their cabs.
