Perhaps although NASA knew and had been tracking the large asteroid for some time, some smaller debris also was accomanying that big rock but was too small to notice. Or a piece of the big guy broke off and maybe there will be more coming? Oh by the way what is the plan to deal with these guys in the future or do we go the way of the dinosaurs?
