The ready mix truck, as we know it today, was invented in 1916, in Columbus, Ohio, by Stephan Stepanian. However, the first successful, comercial manufacturer of these trucks was Gebhardt Jaeger, also from Columbus. Jaeger started building mixer trucks about 1922.
Jaeger mixers were probably the most widely used ready mix truck body, until sometime in the 50's, when other companies started gaining in popularity.
