I had a Toyota Land Cruiser that the previous owner had used a piece of T shirt for a gasket on the timing cover. It leaked like a sieve.
I would think the file folder or manila envelope would work fine, especially with the gasket sealer. But I'm just a dumb carpenter. :):):)
