Gasket paper substitutes?

I need to make some thin gaskets for my tractor. The ones that came off were thin like writing paper. All I have is the regular gasket paper thats maybe a shy sixteenth thick. Would a manilla file folder work? I always use Aviation Form-a-gasket on them. Any other suggestions?
