Once those gears are meshed (Pump/cam), the only way to turn the pump is to turn the cam. If you want to prime it, you can do that by forcing oil into the oil guage line. That will feed all oil passage ways to crank, cam, filter and back to the pump. It revearses the normal flow. If you have another oil filter cannester w/o the filter and an air compressure, that would be the right tools. Fill the cannester w/oil and add air preesure to top orvice. Force a couple off quarts in, and your primed. Make sure cannester is nice and clean.
