Clutch advice

Last summer I rebuilt the hydraulic master cylinder for the clutch of my 62 W300. After doing it, I could not get the clutch pedal to return all the way to the pre-depressed position. The clutch works, but the pedal wants to stay within about three inches or so of fully depressed.

After working on it a while, I took it to a shop which, if anything, made it worse. As i indicated, it will shift and all, but obviously this just isn't right.

I've done this once before about twenty years ago on the same truck and it worked just fine. Maybe I've forgotten something. Is there a trick to bleeding it that I am missing or is this a sign of something else.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm pondering tearing back in to it this weekend.
