Here's a similar story---smaller scale:
I was at a friend's farm near Painesville, Ohio. He took rubber bands and straped 3 Estes model rocket motors to his little brothers plastic model car. Ignition occurred in his driveway and after traveling mere feet became airborne. It held together long enough to cross the road, across the corner of a small field, and into his grandfather's barn starting a substantial fire. The barn survived--we almost didn't.
His grandfather, the local constabulary, and the rural fire dept. all agreed that perhaps it would not be in our best interest to try and duplicate the event!
