Lonnie, Actually I did the same thing last year in my 52 B3PW! I had put a new motor & master cylinder in it and went to Moab, I was starting the first part of the Lion's Back (52 degrees up! or 108% grade) got about 80 feet up, (or 15 or so feet short of where the slope drops to about 45 degrees) when the engine stalled due to no gas as the slope was so steep the fuel pump was unable to pull gas upto the engine! So, I applied my brakes, set her in reverse (low range of course) and decided to ease her back down, note that at this point on the rock, I am about 80 feet oof level ground, at a 50+ degree upward pitch, on a solid rock surface about 10-11 feet wide! I start easing the truck back with the brakes, about 8 feet down, BAM! the brake pedal hits the floor boards! I am now freewheeling backwards! So, I dumped the clutch, the old PW shuttered and jumped around skipping tires untill I found terra-firma at the bottom! How I kept her staright, I don't know! So I looked up the rock to see a big puddle of brake fluid, rolled the PW out of the way, hopped into Digger's W300 and rode to the top of the rock and back!! Anyway, I made it OK this year! The old PW (with the help of a 'Turbo-Boost' [electric fuel pump] scooted right up the Lions Back! A WARNING to others....DISCARD the nylon pipe plugs that NAPA supplies with their master cylinders! USE ONLY BRASS PLUGS!! (I blew one out by the threads!)
